Summer at The Penthouse can feel like living in luxury— gorgeous views, a touch of glamour… but occasionally in those heatwaves, the temperature of a toasted baguette.

We may not have air-con, but we have you covered! Here’s your cool survival kit:

1) Curtain Commandments
Sure, sunshine looks lovely, but it’s basically a free delivery service for heat. Keep those curtains closed in the daytime if you can and you’ll have a shady, breezy haven instead of a solar oven.

2) Window Wisdom (Daytime Edition)
If it’s already cooler inside than outside, keep the windows shut tight. Think of your cool air as a VIP guest — don’t let it sneak out while the hot air parties in.

3) Window Wisdom (Evening Remix)
When the sun takes a nap, that’s your cue to fling those windows open. If you’re lucky enough to catch a cool summer breeze in the day, invite it in — and make sure there’s an exit point so it can do a grand tour through The Penthouse.

 

4) Fan-tastic Adventures
There’s a big fan in the living room and another in the bedroom. They’re portable, so feel free to play “musical fans” and move them wherever you need an extra blast of arctic joy.

5) Duvet Detox
Sleeping upstairs can get toasty because — spoiler alert — heat rises. Too hot for a duvet? Strip off the cover and use it as a lightweight sheet. Instant tropical resort vibes, minus the mosquitoes.

6) Bedroom Breeze Rules
Front bedroom window = cautious tilt or tiny crack (safety first). Side Velux window = big, glorious opening… just remember to close it when you’re out unless you’re happy to host a curious seagull or two.

7) Ice, Ice, Maybe
Craving a frosty drink? Spar and Co-Op (just a quick stroll away) sell bags of ice. Perfect for cold drinks… or for dramatic Titanic-style “iceberg” scenes in your water glass.
